Whats the difference between a Swede and a White Turnip - about £1.10p!!

OH it makes me
I bought a swede in sainsbugs as I wanted to make some soup. Now that half of it has been grated and along with all my other veg I have a huge pot of lovely hearty soup.
I thought I would sit down now and add my spends up/adjust my GC totals. On checking the receipt I thought thats a lot of money for what I would call a small "neep" and find I was charged for "Turnips White Loose" @ £2.00/kg. On checking sainsbugs website the Swede are only £0.90/kg, so charged more than double
This is not the first time that this has happened to me but previously I noticed before leaving the store and got a refund.
I'm going to sound really ageist here, but it always seems to happen with younger members of supermarket staff who don't appear to know the difference between the two.
I have thought about suggesting to sainsbugs that staff induction training should include becoming familiar with the produce they sell:p
"Should ave gone to @ldi" but that would have added petrol to the price as well!!

Thats the thing the staff dont know what this or that is especially if they work on checkouts and they dont have much knowledge of produce. I didnt know what a swede or a turnip was due to not having much interest in them as i dont eat them. Maybe a suggestion to sainsburys customer care team(can email them or call them) is a good idea.0

I'd be annoyed too & wouldnt hesitate to complain
Apples are a problem too, if they dont have a sticker with the name & code on it causes a problem. I've had my cos lettuce mistaken for spring greens in Lidl0 -
I've recent;y been asked to identify the following for various ASDA checkout staff (all young):
courgettes
avocado
aubergine
kiwi fruit
I shudder to think what their diets are like.Mortgage starting balance - [STRIKE]£151,030 [/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£143,733.28[/STRIKE] £137,000 (25 years to go...):o0 -
I work for Sainsburys. On the tills, if the cashier doesn't know the 3 or 4 digit number of the plu to the fruit and veg, they can look it up and by each product name, there is a small photo of it and these are the same photos used on the self scan tills.
Swede has purple bits and turnip has none. I have been on self scan and customers themselves have weighed swede as turnip - we don't sell turnip. So I am helpful enough to spot it, void it and reweigh as swede.0 -

I also had young cashiers snarl and say 'I don't like these' at my food. I scan food at work and don't pull funny faces when I am having to scan a food that I don't like. If I behaved like that on the checkouts, I would get a right telling off.0 -
I work on checkouts & the 2 pictures do look similar with purple on them(even though Middy says they don't). I know the difference as a Swede is bigger.0

Oh really - Good job I can tell the difference !
"Turnip roots weigh up to about one kilogram .........the entire root is roughly conical, but can be occasionally tomato-shaped, about 5–20 centimeters in diameter"
"SWEDE QUICK GUIDE..................7.5-17.5 cm (3-7 in) in diameter, 12.5-17.5 cm (5-7 in) long"0
