I also had some debt before this which i never paid and have never been in touch with the bank to resolve it!

I expect the telephone calls relate to the money you still owe. The bank is either trying to resolve it with you before it's too late and becomes statute barred, or have passed it on to a debt collecting agency.

    Hi all,

I have also, just this second had a text message from "moneyalert", it says:

"Welcome to your new A&L Credit Card Account! You will receive your PIN, followed by your card and credit limit, in the next 10 days"

It also has the ! mark in it?? Seems very very very dodgy as I haven't ordered a credit card, my problem is that my phone is a company one, and because of that hundreds of people have my number, could it be some sad little person with a personal grudge???

    Just doesn't add up??

I have just received a text message saying Please call GVI on 08004046601. Dunno what's it about I have debt but nothing outstanding that I know off. I see this number has been talked about before here and I don't know whether to phone it or not.

My logic is screaming if it was important they would phone me.

For those getting texts/calls about a debt they nothing of, has anyone had your number before you did? e.g. business mobile etc. If so, they may still have that number listed for someone else
  • I received a call from GVI the other night informing me that I was in arrears on my credit card when I had nothing through the post from them. he was quite instant that I paid the sum over the phone. and he could not understand why I would not just pay a strange company who phones me at home.

Instead I called my card company the next day to resolve the matter and at the same time ask them to put a note on my account to never ring me at home. if this happens I will be very surprised. but at least I asked.

But the seem to be working on behalf of Virgin/MBNA. The card recommended to me by this site.

GVI have been a nightmare for me, 4 or 5 phone calls a day including Easter Sunday. After that I wrote to them telling them all contact with me has to be by post - and I haven't heard a word since. Like Harry99 they couldn't understand why I wouldn't give them my card details so they could take a payment off at a later date!

    Hi all

Gvi are global vantedge have sent me a letter and now are texting me to call them, i have contacted mbna via letter advised them to only write to me by letter and still getting the calls and the requests to call them

so should i do the next letter the reporting of not corresponding with me in the written letter format as i have requested and not to phone me?

The golden rule on here from all appears do not call and discuss on phone only liase in writing,

    ciao for now maz
