Car Insurance Question

Currently OH and I share one car and are both insured on it with OH as the main driver. His commute is set to change and we will need to buy a second car. I would like us both to be able to share both cars and drive them however can he be the main driver on two policies if I drive the cars less often than him? I ask because he has more no claims than me and has been driving longer so it will make it cheaper. Also I don't like driving unless I really have to.

If you share a car now, and you both commute together, if he can't take you anymore, won't you be using the new car to commute in?
He can only use his ncd on one car at a time, so if he insures them both, the second one will be starting at zero, unless you can get a good deal.0 -
His existing NCD can only be used on one car, for a 2nd car he would have to start again from scratch earning NCD - although his existing company may give him an introductory NCD (some other insurers may also offer introductory NCD for starting a policy for a 2nd car)
Get quotes with you as policy holder and other half as main driver of the 2nd car and you as named driver so that you could start to earn NCD too. Compare those quotes with other half as policy holder / main driver and you as named driver, then decide which is the best option. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Thanks I don't commute but need to pick up from school and do shopping and he was home in time for that before. I was thinking we could swap between cars according to who needed the bigger or better one and obviously he will be doing a lot more driving than me. However if he won't get any no claims discount I guess I can have a policy of my own and put him on as the second person and make sure we each use our 'own' cars most of the time.0

It's worth calling his existing insurance company to see it they will give you a mirrored or introductory ncd as you have been a named driver on his policy.0
