PPI's

I didn't know that I had PPI on a credit card that I have and asked in 2009 what a certain payment was that had been charged to the account - to be told it was PPI - I said I didn't know that I had that and at the time had been in hospital and off work after a recent operation - they paid out for this time off work.
I was just wondering if I would still be able to claim as I didn't know that I had been sold this insurance when I applied for the card even though I have made a claim since - I have had this credit card for a number of years before I even asked what the payment was for.
