Pay for special delivery or it'll take 7-10 working days!!!

Options
Surely this cant be legal?

Bought park tickets from travel republic but chose not to pay the extra for special delivery (it defaults to recorded delivery).

Got an email from them now saying that it'll take an extra 7-10 days to post because I didnt choose special delivery.

No idea what the post method has got to do with how long it takes them to post? Basically, its cough up or we'll mess you around on purpose.

Of course its legal - special delivery shipments will be processed in advance of all others.

In the same way we have a 1st and 2nd class postal service - its just they have set the number of days to 7-10 to allow it to fit in with the processing schedule.

I would only really be an issue if they were charging extortionate amounts for the special delivery...

Recorded is standard mail special is a guaranteed next day delivery.

Interestingly recorded does not cover tickets against loss, but I assume the sender takes the risk as normal in this situation.

Yep. Ive had this in the past with something I ordered.

Its the senders responsibility until they can prove it arrived.

Some firms have strange procedures, I buy from ebuyer and choose the free supersaver delivery option
most of the time (within 5 working days).

They leave it until the 4th day then send next day delivery, Madness to me.

Damn just looked on their website and the main page has something i bought last week but its down from £24.99
    i paid to £15.99.

I wonder if you have the right to insist on the lower price? :D
