Hi Gilly and welcome. If you've had a letter acknowledging recipt of your complaint and advising of the timeline then this is your acknowledgment, they have 16 weeks to deal with your complaint and then advise or ask for more time, at this point you can take your complaint to Financial Ombudsman Service(FOS) but with their backlogs, unless you get a rejection from the lender, you're better to stick it out with them.
Hopefully they will start to push through the rest of the complaints now that the one's on hold should've been dealt with and you may get dealt with sooner that that.
My calculations show it to be around the 2nd November they should resolve this for you.:D
Thanks to all the competition posters.

Hi GILLY680 - looks like we’ll be waiting to hear from Barclays at about the same time. I put my claim in 14/08/11 and got the generic letter saying they would review and reply to my complaint by November 4th and were working to a 16-week resolution period. etc ,etc

I received a letter today informing me they had told me they were working to a 16 week resolution ( by November 4th) in error and they meant 12 weeks.

“For complaints received between 1 August and 1 October 2011, we will work to a 12-week resolution period” barclays.co.uk
I am very worried about their maths skills if they uphold and calculate my claim because 14th August- November 4th IS approx 12 weeks not 16 as they said in first place.
On the positive are we to assume they are on track?
