I don't know of anyone who takes their dog to work unless it's a guide dog.
We have our dogs here , when people visit they mention how common it is to see dogs in workplaces nowVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -
Playing devils advocate - do you know how the dog behaves when left alone? Is it possible it does go a little mental, even in the cage?
Might be worth, as said, recording this to be sure.0 -
I bring my 5 dogs into work ( OK, it's my business and a stand alone unit), so it does happen and going into other work premises, you see dogs. I guess it depends on what sector you work in.
I agree, carpet the area, cuts down any sound of paws and claws on the floor. My youngest is in a crate all day ( she cannot get the hang of housetraining) and she is fine there provided she goes out regularly. The crate has bedding in it obviously so when she does move around, there is no sound made. Your dog of course might bark and it's easy to leave a recording device out to check that for yourself.0 -

Dogs and cats envitably suffer from fleas at some point of time. One thing to suffer an infestation in ones home. Another in an office enviroment.0 -

it's inevitably, and actually, it's not inevitable, i have two cats who have never had fleas. my mum and dad have had 3 dogs throughout their lives, only 1 of which got fleas, and that was from bringing them into the house when he was a pup. my brother has had 4 dogs and 4 cats at various stages, none of which have had fleas. it is really not that common.0 -
some people just hate dogs and will complain about them immediately on sight - 'noisey, smelly, dirty, aggressive etc etc' you name it iv heard it!
the guy is maybe just one of these dog hating people
def the carpet and cctv approach is the way to go

I don't think I'd engage in any way with a neighbour who referred to me as a !!!!!!, either."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

Oddly four of them never have fleas though the Papillon occasionally gets them, but as soon as he does, out comes the frontline and they're gone. Not had any this year.
One of the reasons I run my own business is so that I can bring the mutts with me. All but one of my employees works away from the office, the one that works with me, knew about the dogs and it's his choice. Fortunately he likes dogs (even mine:p) so it's not an issue. You just wouldn't work in an office if you knew there were 5 dogs. If I were to advertise for someone, then it would say that you would need to be dog friendly! My set up doesn't bother anyone else or offend anyone.0 -

It's pretty clear that the OP's LL knows that the dog is there and hasn't told the OP it's not allowed.0
