I need advice please re buiying from dealership

Hello I have recently been looking for a bigger car for the family and we decided upon a second hand Mercedes B class. We popped over to our local dealership for a look and got chatting to a saleslady who took all the details of what we wanted and said she would check their systems and was quite confident she could get us exactly what we wanted.
True to her word day later she rang to say she had found a white one on the system for £12000 - however it was still live on the Mercedes system until 6th Sept and others could bid for it! She reassured me that it was 99% ours and asked for a £500 deposit. We told her our maximum budget was £12k and we could not go over this! However she stated IF and it was a big IF the deal fell through we would get our money back or she would find us another car!
Phoned yesterday to be informed she got the car for us but price has increased to 13k due to a bidding war from other dealerships. I refused point blank to pay it !!! She also stated she has looked for other cars but can't find anything suitable!! Does anyone know what my rights are regarding this?

Go in and tell them to either sell you the car at the agreed £12k or ask for your deposit back. Be prepared for this to take a bit of time and a lot of resolve from yourself.

What are the exact specs of the car?

Thanks Hintza its a white 2008 model b150 Se with panoramic roof and loads of extras! Problem is I can't get another white one with same spec for our budget!! so annoying!!

Well that would suggest either your spec wish is too high or your bugest too low.

Thing is it looks like you can't get one for your budget full stop and neither can the dealer! However, they did make you a promise or your deposit back so you can tough it out as above, see if they'll reduce it or if you could stretch, maybe ask them to chuck in a load of stuff, like next major service for free or something, that'll be worth a good £500 from a main dealer.

I think the business manager wants to put it on the forecourt for 3k more tbh! I may try and barter for another couple of hundred otherwise I'm walking away! I still think its bad practice tho!

I think the problem is the colour tbh - if I had another colour I could get it for our budget! trouble is I dont like the bland Merc colours on offer!
