Help with shower

Hopefully somebody may be able to give me some advise, i have just had a shower and went to turn it off but the cold water is still coming through and i can't stop it so i have had to turn the water off from the stock !!!!. Any ideas before i call my plumber?

    Can you tell us what sort of shower it is, please? Make Model number if poss.

    I bought it from Homebase 3 years ago and the make is Triton Opal electric shower 9.5 kw but not sure what the model number is, have just looked in the book and can't see it.

    I can guess at possibilities but I'm reluctant to do so. Are you in a hard water area?

    Yes thats the right shower and i am in a hard water area, is this what the problem is and should i now give my plumber a ring?

    if you turn off the power at the pullcord does the water stop?

    I am not famniliar with that partiular shower but i know most of tritons showers work like this...

    All advice given by thekid is in good faith but remember these important facts:
    1. I'm lucky enough to live in Scotland(Scots Law may apply)...
    2. My motto is "What's the worst that can happen" you've seen the kids in the Comic Relief clips, is it to that scale? Then get a grip!
    3. It's only money...no really(see #2)
    4. I'm only a plumber... :wink:

    we've got exactly the same thing at the mo, but with the hot tap.

    everyone we've spoken to seems to thing that limescale is stopping a valve from closing properly.

    Anyway, we've got a plumber coming to look at it today under warranty (hopefully should've come by now).

    Will still be really cross if there's a 2 second fix for it though ;)

    edit: fyi, we can turn the power off to the whole house and it still keeps going :)

    If i pull the cord off the cold water is still running from the shower but the hot isn't.

    Sounds as though the solenoid valve for the water is stuck "open". Try "thumping" the side of the unit - not too hard !

    If not you need a plumber/electrician.
