Credit Card PPI - Morgan Stanley/Barclaycard

Help please people....
Excuse if this has been covered before but as a newbie l would have missed any said discussions....

Looking at the possibilty of PPI Claiming and wondered if anyone else has had the same issue as myself.

Originally took my Credit Card out with Morgan Stanley in 1994 but in October 2008, Barclaycard automatically took over from Morgan Stanley and subsequently issued me with a nice new Barclaycard..

Issue l have is, with whom should l start my PPI investigation with ?
Obviously most will scream Morgan Stanley but my thinking is that maybe Barclaycard as they would have brought my agreement ?

Account Numbers obviously changed when it went from Morgan Stanley to Barclaycard but l really don't know who to write to first..?

Any ideas/thoughts would be gratefully received.

Thanks

    Hiya

Its up to you, but maybe you could send to 2 of them just to cover yourself, one of them will probably get back and say the other, but at least you have already covered yourself by writing to them.

Reclaim questionnaire complaint below, step 3, good luck.

  • Sorry - I do not quote understand.

You had a Morgan Stanley credit card from 1984 to 2008, with as many as 2,880 statements each including an amount for PPI and you did not think, in all that time, to question it.

Why not? If an unexpected payment appeared on my credit card statement I would question it straight away, not wait over a quarter of a century - and I would expect any reasonable person to do the same.
  • Well well hark at smartypants above. I was sold PPI over the telephone by a Morgan Stanley representative. I was self - employed at the time, which Morgan Stanley knew. I later found out that the policy did not cover me as I was self - employed, which is when I cancelled the policy. I had been paying the premiums for three years. A little presumptious of you to make degrading comments about the poster without knowing all of their details, if I may say so.

Not a very professional response from a so called professional.
  • I also had a Morgan Stanley/Barclaycard. I sent my initial SAR to Morgan Stanley and it was passed directly to Barclaycard.

Barclaycard gave me the run around for ages, lost my FOS questionaire, didn't send me a response for 24 weeks saying they had no record of my complaint then after an email to David Chans office the miraculously 'found' the complaint and sent a letter not upholding my complaint and saying sorry for losing the complaint.

I am also self employed the original ppi sold to me by Morgan Stanley did not cover the self employed and although Barclays claim to cover the self employed their criteria is very difficult for a self employed person with any business assests to met. The restrictions on the policy should have been pointed out at the time of the sale and were not.

Mine is with FOS but they have a waiting list of upto a year according to my most recent letter.

You claim from Barclaycard, they're the 'successor in title'.
