is this right?700 tax credits a month!

my hubby just started working after 5 months of being on jsa.he will b earning 18000 a year.i have always kept tax credits up to date etc and did renewal on time. we have 2 kids 5 and 2.so since arpil this year he has been on jsa and before that he was working from june til march this year earning 800 a month. just had new award letter after ringing up and changing our circ's to say he is working. we will b getting 434 child tax and 338 working tax!i thought he was earning too much to get working tax credit?does this sound right?i dont want a letter in 6 months time asking for money back!as i aid i have aleays kept them up to date etc. thanks!

  • Best to give them a ring in this case to check it is right. Seems a lot.
  • ps. record call or make note of name and time of call just in case told okay go spend it, then at least you can say you rang.

    Tax credits always adjust the next year on final notice of prior finalised income, so if wrong you could find it does inpact following year, hence best to check:)
