Does anyone if there are programmes out their to identify potential duplicate data.
I normally just do an incremental backup using Freecom Software to a Freecom external hard drive.
This time I thought I would do just a straight copy of the mapped area containing documents to the external harddrive using copy/paste.
I have been watching it i and have noticed obvious duplicate documents being pasted.
These are obviously flashing up too fast to log .
Are there any programmes that may identify possible duplicates and allow you to verify and delete? I am thinking word/excel/Mp3/jpg and suchlike.

Have you tried right clicking an empty space, then group by, by type or name

There definitely are free duplicate file finder programmes on the net. I think people use them to check for dupe pictures and songs. You just need to do some googling.0

Google 'TreeCompare' or 'Windiff' ive used both fairly recently for comparing directories with 10000's of files in. You can set the type of compare too, from a slow but very complete binary compare to just basic time/date/name compare. TreeCompare seemed the easiest and fastest.0
