Welcome VIV - Big Hugs:j0

I take home £1257 p/m.
DH is looking for a part-time job, but it will need to be evenings or early morning as the student's he does have (and any enquiries that come in) take lesson in the daytime.
My Petrol outgoing are I think a fact of life. I work in Sevenoaks (Mid Kent) and live in Sittingbourne (North Kent). There is no Bus service. The use a train I would need to catch a train to London Victoria, then another to Sevenoaks (well actually to Kemsing, where my office is). This works out more expensive than the petrol, and at least the car is paid for outright. It would also mean leaving home around 5.40am and not getting home until close to 8pm. I'm willing and happy to financially do whatever is necessary to help us, but keeping hours like that could cost so much more than money.
Husbands car insurance IS more expensive as a driving instructor, and it's only THAT cheap because of his excellent record.0 -
DH is bringing in between £440 and £640 a month right now depending on lessons. We know that's poor, but we HAVE to give his business the chance to succeed. He started the business at the wrong time and our spending was out of control. Believe me we see this now...hindsight is a wonderful thing! What worries me now is that because we have been borrowing from the cards to pay essentials, and the cards are now up to the limits, in a couple of weeks time we are literally not going to have enough money to pay things.
Believe me I'm willing to sell stuff....get rid of my phone (Christ knows it never rings!) etc.
DH's mobile, at £30 covers his mobile calls & texts (never had to pay additional yet) and our internet service. This is through Orange. I guess there are people who thnk that Internet is a thing we can live without, but DH's business has a website and his pupils do use both that and they email too. So as a package of both and broadband internet I don't think that's bad, is it?
We don't get child tax credits as we have no children. Yes I have a Mothercare storecard. But this is never used now...our son was still-born but we'd already bought most of the stuff a baby needs. This has already been sold.
Jesus this just looks worse by the minute.0 -
Viv dont panic. And firstly I am so sorry about your son. I know and understand how hard this is.
Seriously don't panic. We were in a simillar position, at our wits end and had refinanced a number of times. For us, it didn't work. We had our lightbulb moments and faced up to things and with the help of CCCS are now on a DMP and are paying things off.
It will work out, its scary but it will work out xxxx0 -

Might Payplan be a way for us to go?
I'm trying to trawl through the options here.0 -
Viv I don't know if your husband has tried this to drum up business, A local driving school regulary parks outside our local college handing out flyers to the kids as they come out at the end of the day, might be worth a try as most 17-18 year olds are thinking about learning I would have thought.
You could try posting on the small business board i'm sure people will come up with some ideas for you.0 -
I'm trying to find the small business board....am I being dense? I can't find it!0
