Hi again...I downloaded Sygate firewall on my new lappy and although i was able to connect to AOL no pages could be displayed. I ticked all the allow boxes that came up but still wouldnt work. I've uninstalled it now and everything working properly. Any ideas what I might have done wrong?

This is the main prob with software firewalls and thats compatibility with pieces of software.
Are you behind a router? If so a firewall is not needed (or windwos firewall is sufficient).
If not, as a last resort try Zone Alarm.[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

I havnt got a router yet, just using main broadband connection and just running Windows firewall. I've got Sygate on my other pc and AOL too and no probs with that so no idea why I cant get it to work on here. Is Zonealarm ok or would it be best to just stick with the Windows one?0

The windows one won't be secure enough without a router.
To be honest as long as you take care of your pc (regular scans for viruses and spyware) a firewall isn't essential as your not a "business" with a lot of profitable information...
If you do want one though, I'd say Zone Alarm.[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

Hey
Just to make it easier for the op to decide I think you should post the reasons for not recommending it...
I know it can be fiddly if thats a reason but it gets the job done..[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."
