Hmmm I have a rosemary conley juicer/blender that is going up to my FSIL so that's cleared some space
I managed to rehome OHs deep fat fryer that he'd used once in the last year and finally agreed I could get shot off
I want to get rid of his sandwich maker as he can use the George
I have a quite large george to be honest - especially for 2 people. But we use it a lot and we love itI tend to cook a lot of strips of chicken and beef on it for salads so it's definitely staying and if OH couldn't do bacon on it I'd actually have to start thinking about cleaning the grill from time to time instead of just throwing out the tin foil in the bottom and giving it a quick wipe
My SC, BM and Magic bullet will stay until they die!And I have just bought a dehydrator that I need to squeeze in
I do have some plates and pots and pans I am going to need to find a new home for so I will see if there is a womens shelter place around that might be able to use them(And if I am sneaky I can get rid of a load of glasses that don't match and replace them with new ones from Ikea
)
Btw I have THE tiniest kitchen - next when it's all tidied up I'll try to post a picture of it so you can all see what I meanDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

blue-kat wrote:I've seen kitchen designs on tv with a gadget zone, some sort of vertical cupboard with roll top door and couple of power points. the idea being you roll up the door, select your elec gadget, plug in. saves rummaging in cupboards, they are to hand but easily put away.
I guess I have two ‘gadget zones’.I designed the kitchen myself didn’t realise that is what they were. I thought it was a combination of me wanting as many cupboards as possible and OH not being bothered to move the electrical sockets so we ended up with two cupboards one either side of the hob – they are wall cupboards but are sat on the work surface – both with electrical sockets inside.
Inside are:
Bread maker, toaster, Kenwood chef, food processor & accoutrements, stick blender, meat/bread slicer & Panini maker. (6.5l slow cooker does not fit inside)
They are really useful to have. It keeps everything neat & at eye level so I don’t have to go routing around for my food processor blades on my hands and knees at the back of a cupboard. There is always a electrical socket free. Also, I can get my stick blender & whiz my soup while it is on the hob, give it a rinse & put it away again without taking more than 2 steps. :beer:Your home is at risk if you do not keep up repayments on a mortgage or other loan secured on it.0 -
has anyone got a solution to my problem - that of the far corner of cupboards. I want to be able to use these and yet easily access the items there. I know that you can buy special wire trays that can be turned but all those I've seen waste a lot of space and need special fitting. Also i thought maybe someone had an OS solution to this problemWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0

As regards the corner cupboard - assuming that it has at least one shelf, could you not buy some of those crate thingies and pull one right out to get at the hidden one(s)? It might work if you store less frrequently used items in the hidden ones.0 -

Using 'crates' work well, although when I began this system in 19**BC (before crates), supermarket cardboard boxes worked fine.
In fact I used them in my old 18cu ft chest freezer too when Bejams (remember them?) were trying to flog you extra wire baskets. You'd have thought that the card board would have gone soggy, but they lasted for years.0 -
An update on my sorting out the kitchen. Its taken some time as I've been quite ill lately and haven't been able to do much. Loved the idea of the crates but needed to wait til OH could take me somewhere to get some. Have sorted one cupboard and its so much better. So easy to move aside a crate to reach something in another crate rather than empty whole cupboard. Now need to start on the next cupboard......We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0
