Set in the fictional town of "Everington" in the real County Durham according to Wiki.

Street scenes were filmed in Easington, County Durham, a former mining village.[1] As Easington Colliery closed in 1983[2] the mining scenes were filmed at the Ellington and Lynemouth colliery in Northumberland,[1] with some filming in Dawdon and Newcastle upon Tyne.[1]

Deffo not Darlington as you can see the sea on the film...although it's not actually in Durham city...it's in Durham County

looking at the choices, I think they have messed up I mean durham is an option .. perhaps they miss read where it was set themselves lol
