A friend has a laptop that has sudenly started acting strangely!
Yesterday she had to reset her email programme and this morning finds that when she types certain letters she gets numbers appearing too - this is in all programmes - plus her send and receive button has disappeared.
She uses the laptop in her kitchen which can be a bit damp - the letters/numbers thing sounds like some moisture may have got into it.
Any other ideas?

No reliance should be placed on the above.

This sounds like the behaviour of a virus.
She should scan the laptop for viruses using AVG free and then follow the instructions for sorting it out.0 -
It doesn't sound like a Virus to me. Check that Numlock or function lock havn't been set ( usually laptops have the numberic keypad superimposed around the H or J keys ? )
What do you mean by resetting the email program ?0 -
re the email programme, I believe she had to reneter passwords etc. Maybe that she needs to check her settings - I did a google search and it may be to do with something as simple as not having her email address entered in the right field somewhere.
TaNo reliance should be placed on the above.0
