Zip broke 3 days after receiving my bag

Please could I have some advice as a buyer.I bought a handbag a while back-only noticed after Id made the purchase that it was coming from China.I waited patiently and 3 weeks later my lovely handbag arrived.
3 days after I got it,I was opening it up and the zip "hold" came off in my hand.So if you can imagine the zip still works-but it only has a little flat disc-it was the crossbar that came off the clip.So in order to zip/unzip it,I need to hold it between my thumb and finger (so one on the outside of the bag and one on the inside, which means I know cant fully close the bag as I need to get one finger inside it to open it in the first place)
My first thought was to phone around our local key cutters/dry cleaners type places. The cheapest quote I could get to replace the zip was £18 and a few weeks wait, bag cost £15.00 delivered.
Then I emailed the seller-told them what I had tried and asked if they would resolve.I was told that although it was "inconvenient",it could still be used-and was offered a £5 refund.
This was my first purchase from an int seller,so now Im wondering-do I accept this and never make this kind of purchase again or do I open a dispute (or at least leave neg feedback)?
Where do I stand?

If you want to return it you will need to send it back to China tracked. There is no guarantee with International Signed For postage - which costs £4.95 to start with, on top of postage to China - which you won't get refunded by this crappy seller.
I would definitely leave a neg if the seller forced me to dispute like that though. Having purchased from China myself, a little owl trinket watch which broke the first day I was using it, I wouldn't buy from there again; however, having bought collectables regularly from Eastern Europe, I wouldn't say that all overseas sales go wrong. I think it depends on the market as much as anything."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4
