FYI I am selling a AMD 3000+ on an Asus K8NE deluxe board, 512mb RAM, 250gb hdd, plus the usual other bits & bobs, XP SP3 clean install, guaranteed for 3 months for £100 - I'm not offering to you, just an example of whar you should be able to get - 384mb is NOT enough for XP SP3 - really needs double that minimum, plus a 1600GHz cpu is real slow - haven't used one of those for 6-7 years plus.
FYI the Athlon XP 1600+ was first introduced in 2001, so I ex[ect the PC offerred is 9-10 years old........0 -
Reinstall windows, install avast free and it won't be slow anymore.!!

I understand what you are saying now. I'll keep looking on ebay.
I know you weren't offering to me but where abouts are you? your machine sounds really good and at least you're not ripping me off like some of these shops are.0 -
Hi, no where near the midlands unfortunately - I do have a Toshiba Satellite P30-145 17" laptop for sale which I am looking for £75 plus delivery. It has Intel P4 3200 GHz cpu, 1gb RAM, 60gb hdd, wireless, XP SP3, IE8, AVG 2010, etc. No scuff or usage marks, adapter, battery lasts for 30-40 mins under normal usage (but can run with no battery). Why so cheap? Well albeit it has been very lightly used, there is one problem - it has one very narrow vertical green line on the screen, no wider than 0.2mm - would cost about the same to fix, but actually for normal usage you don't notice it. You can also run the laptop with an external monitor clean. If you google this model, you will see some have had an overheating issue; I have tested this one for hours with no issues. Its best to be upfront about these things. I will post on Ebay within the next few days.
I cannot offer it to you here but if you either send me a private message or contact me via eBAY (same monika), I can send you photos etc.0 -
Can I be honest Woody,
For web browsing today, with so many flash based websites you might be best looking at a cheap Dual Core with 2Gb of RAM. This will ensure that you always have a fast starting computer and it shouldn't clunk and chug when you are moving between any documents and your web browser. I would honestly advise against buying a second hand Pentium 4 or below at any price as it's very easy to find people giving those old computers away for free (and with good reason if you ask me.)
*Edit, and the price that shop offered you that PC for is a joke. I hate seeing PC shops take advantage of people who are not clued up on all the jargon of computer specs.£8/£96 for ToughMudder fee.0
