Turned down for Natwest Mortgage...HELP!!!
Comments

In 2011 would a mortgage broker worth their salt not ask a prospective client to pull their records from all the credit reference bureaux and check to see whether there were any known or unknown bad eggs hiding in the swathes of paper ? If not, I'd question why not.
Then again, if people can find this forum, why cannot they stop for a nanosecond, turn off Corrie and read one of the multitude of posts where the advice is to get hold of their financial records ?
Getting a nasty thumb print on your credit file because you couldn't be bothered to check before submitting an application would seem rather rash and foolhardy.0 -
Im sorry but I'm not sure I understand your post, for one thing I dont watch corrie!!!!!
Ok yes I will admit to not checking my credit report prior to my mortgage application but this was because I know I have never missed any payments/made late payments/had any ccj's/etc I honestly thought that with me being a good customer then I would be ok, I have a score of 999 on experian (which according to some means naff all!!! although I do believe Abbey use Experian to credit check you) so no its not that I 'couldnt be bothered' its more a case that I didnt think I would need to!!!!
Add that with being a FTB and knowing naff all about the mortgage process I think you are being a little harsh!
Ive also received an email from orange....

Abbey do their credit check at the AIP stage, so if you had gotten an AIP you would have know instantly if your credit was going to be a problem.0

On your AIP, you should have an agreement number...go to this page, use it in the tracker (no need to login) and you can see where your mortgage is at :)Look down to where it says Case Tracking - Mortgages

Congratulations, it really shouldn't be as stressful as it all is! We managed to push ours through in 5 weeks and completed last Thursday, busy painting and getting the house sorted for us to move into in 2 weeks, hopefully you'll be at our stage very soon x0 -
It most definately shouldnt be this stressful, or they should at least give away free hair dye to cover the greys Ive accumulated!!! What should be happening next then? Am I right in thinking the solicitors will start the ball rolling now?
Also, the solicitor that my broker advised me to use is quite expensive (but cheaper than what the EA she is based in recommended) they have the property details, is it still worthwhile getting another quote or will that just mess everything up? Ive been on tenterhooks with the mortgage approval so really dont want any more unnecessary delays??Member of the £2 savers club

Congratulations Cankle
I shopped around for a solicitor and used one based in Newport, they have been great so far and were half the price quoted for some of my more 'local' solicitors. Have a look on the internet and get some quotes - its up to you who you instruct.
