Washing Machine advice needed!

Hi!
My washing machine (hotpoint) has just been officially declared dead - absolutely gutted because it's only 7 or 8 years old and the last one lasted 12 years (mind didn't have kids for most of those 12 years!)
This has come completely out of the blue and I don't know the slightest thing about whats out there in the big wide WM world except it would appear that:-
hotpoint & hoover are no no's
miele, bosch & zanussi are good (in that order - best to not so best)
Is that right?
I was thinking of a larger load machine 8kg say as DD's are growing bigger and I'm washing 3 loads a day.
So I've looked around and I've found this LG one:-

with codes it's down to £427.45 delivered
I'd rather have this cos I don't care about the colour but it's not delivered in my area:mad:
http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1282909738.1168471337@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccdkaddjlhegfhlcflgceggdhhmdfjf.0&page=Product&fm=5&sm=0&tm=0&sku=551039&category_oid=-30549
with codes that's £393.29 delivered
needless to say there's a more expensive version
http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1282909738.1168471337@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccdkaddjlhegfhlcflgceggdhhmdfjf.0&page=Product&fm=5&sm=0&tm=0&sku=039715&category_oid=-30549
£493.99 delivered
So the big questions are
Is this a good reliable brand? I don't mind paying a bit more if I get value for money in the long run
Are the larger machines worth it? - would I notice the difference?
Is the more expensive machine worth the extra money? - I always have this nagging fear that the faster they spin the more ironing will be needed and the faster the machine will break!
And last but not least am I barking completely up the wrong tree and should I be looking at a totally different machine?
Any help would be gratefully received as I don't want to put buying a machine off too long (the washing baskets are full already:eek: ) but I don't want to rush into it and make the wrong decision either.
Many thanks (and sorry for the long post)
K.

Excellent machine. No belt drive and it is so quiet it is unbelievable, even on the spin cycle. Paid £427 for it. Down to £298.99 minus quidco and any other codes you can find.

My brother was a domestic appliance engineer for AEG for many years.
He knows what is good and what isnt........He buys LG machines so that's good enough for me when we come to renew our hotpoint !0 -
I've had a Bosch for 12 years which has been very reliable - hasn't needed any repairs but the seals now need renewing.. I'd have one again or a Miele or Siemens.
Rachelif i had known then what i know now0 -
bosch no longer the machines you remember, we kicked them out of showroom a few years ago, LG best value, miele great but too pricey.0
-
about 10 tears ago hotpoint and bosch were the same inside!0

we had a zanussi machine, it was nothing but trouble, so bad in fact it had to be replaced after a year because of recurrent problems. we now have a BEKO machine, no flashy bells or whistles, it just washes.Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..

My Hotpoints have always been hard on brushes (engineer says they're supposed to last 3 years - always seem to last 18 months with me, so he puts industrial ones in). With the LG you wouldn't have that problem because it's a direct drive. You're making me jealous!0

I was in a similiar position my hotpoint gave up on xmas eve. I have just bought this one http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1862691978.1168527338@@@@&BV_EngineID=cccgaddjlheijikcflgceggdhhmdfhn.0&page=Product&fm=5&sm=0&tm=0&sku=987871&category_oid=-30549. It arrived 3 days ago and has been in use ever since and so far so good!! I have children and can do 3 or more washes a day, i did think about having a bigger drum then i looked at how much water they use and decided against it. The Bosch is so much quieter than my old Hotpoint!! I also managed to get free delivery and a 5% discount form the discount section of this forum.
