Motability/NCB

Hi, I'm posting this on behalf of my parents.

They have a motability car for my sister who is disabled. They have also just purchased a small run about as well.

Motability don't operate a NCB scheme, they provide insurance for all drivers under the scheme. However, they do issue letters for saying how many years 'claim free' driving you have had with them.

My parents are trying to get insurance for their runabout, but having trouble getting an insurer to accept their 5 years claim free driving with Motability - well, insurers are willing to accept it but only if my parents cancel their Motability car! I know that you can't have NCB on two cars at the same time, but as Motability don't actually run a NCB scheme, it isn't on two cars at the same time.

I know from personal experience, you can transfer NCB from one car to another, but how can my parents do this?? They have both lost the NCB they built up on their own personal car as they've had Motability cars for about 6 years now.

Motability have been very helpful, and have offered to speak to the insurers in question. However, the insurers refuse to call Motability, and when Motability call them, they won't speak to them about anything as they are not the policy holder!

Any advice?
