My 2 D/S Christmas presents ??

I think you should always be fair, treat them equally. As long as they are good people and respectful i see no reason to treat one better then the otherMummy of a beautiful little boy and fanatical about christmas

I usually get them what they ask for I have 5 children and sometimes they ask for a big thing PS3 or Wii that is always for all of them but this year I dont think there will be a big present.
I have tried in the past to spend the same amount but I dont anymore I try to get them what they ask for unless its totally ridiculous. 2 youngest probably got most spent on them last year as they wanted lego sets 2 each OMG:p who thought Lego was so expensive the year before it was the girls as they got concert tickets and we went away overnight
In answer to your question ask your boys what thet want from Santa it doesnt matter that yur older son has his own money Christmas is for the things you wouldn't normally buy a treat from Santa:j I am sure he still believesQue Sera, Sera0 -
whatever you feel is right will be the right thing to do, sounds like you have done a great job with
your boys! my son is 11 and daughter 14, I try and spend the same on both of them. My neice
now has hubby and baby so I spend less on her now but buy for the baby and hubby.0 -
I always make the presents look the same, not necesserily the exact same amount of cash, my daughters are 9 and 12. The 12 year old wants more expensive things.0

I don't spend the same one each of my children but neither do I have any system as such.
I was more careful when they were all still children, but nowadays it depends what they want/need and how much money we have.
I can see no point in spending money for the sake of it so I guess it depends if he wants/needs anything really?0 -
Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the question. Are you asking whether you should spend the same amount on both of them to include 15 yr old's bday?
For me and this is just the way I see it. I would seperate the two events. Spend the same amount of 15 and 18 yr olds for xmas and then buy 15 yr old additional presents for his bday. Otherwise presumably you would spend more on the 18 yr old overall because his bday is at another point in the year. Am I missing the point?
However as long as your children are happy I don't see it as being a problem...Don't Throw Food Away Challenge January 2012 - £0.17 / £10

Sorry if i have confused the question by mentioning my d/s christmas birthday, we have always bought him separate birthday presents and this doesnt come into the equasion really other than he will get presents bought for his birthday so the Chrismtas present ideas get used up in this birthday pressents.
My d/s 18 is earning a lot of money (more than my o/h) and can buy himself anything he needs and we are very proud of him in getting a good job with this kind of salary but i just wondered what other people did when there older children were in this sitation. If they spent the same on them both or wether once they had become a adult they spent less on them. For example i spend around £300 on each of them at christmas time now if i was to keep spending the same on both of them until they both come adults and then say reduce this down to £100 then the younger sibling will loose out because he hasnt had the extra 3 years of more money (iyswim) or do i spend less on them both now when the younger one would still miss out by not getting the money spent on them like he used to. Its not like one is 18 and the other is a small child who would be happy with toys. There comes a point when they have got everything they would need and so when you ask them what they would like for Christmas there isnt anything that they want..0 -
I have a 23,21 and step kids now , 18, 17, 14.
We always spend same on them all in the past, last year was £150 each and same on 3 grandchildren. Stepkids also get about £300 each spent on them from their other parents.
We cannot afford this much this year and have spoken to them and told them we will be cutting down. They are all fine with this and the older two know they will not be getting as much as the 3 younger. They are fine with this, they earn more than hubby and I do not work.
When we were younger once we started work mum cut ours down and once we had chilldren she bought the grandchildren instead and only bought us a small token gift maybe costing £5 and we were alwasy totally happy witht thatTOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T0 -
Sorry, OP - I didn't really answer your question, despite being in the same position!
We don't spend as much on dd(19) now as she earns as much as my OH and, like you say, can buy what she wants/needs.
While she pays keep and helps out with household things (she put £100 on the gas meter the other night), she still lives here cheaply and has way more disposable income than she would living elsewhere.
DS gets less again as he's moved out and he also earns a decent wage - more than me and DH combined and he's only 20!
Most goes to DD(10) and I reckon she has roughly what the older two had at her age, so I'm happy with that.0
