Whose the friendliest Insurer?

They all want our money, but whose willing to price match to keep our business ?

I left D.Line forever ago, switching to First Alternative. I run a *nice* car and raked up something like 13 yrs NCD. All very well when that pops through the letter box, but I decided to use Marti's comparison sites, which pulled me in approx £40 cheaper. 10 mins on the phone & F.A, {with a mention of MSE:D} good as gold, matched what I gave them - paid for a valet.

Now Iv'e got him indoors 2 days either side of a renewal - being, should he park up his car @ 59 yrs old, or wait 2 days when he's 60. He is still with D.L {and also our daughter is} rang them and told them what I'd found in his case. Hellooooooo, what ? I wished we'd got a tape recorder running, since when did you whopp a £300 axx on,[even blatently told him it was £175 on the phone yesty-like we've got it here in black & white in front of us] and since when does he NoT a have a NC protection ?

They refused to match, and needless to say, they have now lost another two customers.

All I can say peeps is READ your docs, he never even noticed the above !

Since when did price matching make an insurer either friendly or even good? On the theory of how insurance works it more makes them desperate and personally it would concern me on how they act in a claims situation if they are currently so desperate for new business that they will risk destabilising their common pool by frequently over ruling their rating engine.

If you do get someone to price match it is always very important to actually check you are getting like for like cover, it is very easy to trim cost of a policy by not including legal expenses insurance, hire car or courtesy car, driving other cars etc.

The one good point you did make is to make sure you read your documents
