Flights for a day trip abroad?

My Dad will be 80 next spring, and we had thought that an ideal present would be a familyday trip to Paris - ideal, as my brother lives in Dublin, and my daughter is at University in Strasbourg, so we could all meet up. He would treasure a memory like this so much more that a tangible gift.
It is a trip we have done a few times before, using Ryanair from Glasgow Prestwick. I have been looking into it though, and it seems that Ryanair no longer have their early morning flight which made this possible.
I've looked at all Ryanair and Easyjet flights from Glasgow and Edinburgh, and there doesn't seem to be anywhere we could fly to for the day. An overnight trip would make the cost impossible, as well as the horrendous logistics fro the various family members.
Before giving up on the idea, I wondered whether anyone had any helpful suggestions?

If you still wanted to go to Paris, then Flybe have a 6:10am dep from Edinburgh, gets you into Paris at 9:20am. Then 20:25 dep from Paris in the evening.0
