Caller display not working

You may have a broadband fault thats affecting the level of the caller display signal being applied to the line e 'caller diplay', is a data burst applied to the line before ringing current is applied, if you have a CLASS compatible device on the line, then the calling line info is displayed, the fact that your corded phone displays this info proves its being sent (the only thing BT/OR can check for)...as you say you must be on a shortish line to get the sync speed you get so its not going to be line length but some other attenuation, all pstn signals speech, ringing, caller display signal (fsk, old modem type frequency shift keying, its not a digital signal but analouge) goes into and comes out of your ISPs DSLAM before going to line so the signal could be being attenuated here, and your corded phone may be better at working with a low signal level than the cordless......
if its not this then you could have some RF interference in your house thats swamping your dect base station communicating with the handset (if the cordless phone is ok in someone elses house, I presume you used your cordless base and handset into your neighbours), can you change the channel manually on your cordless ?
I think if you do request a OR visit and they either check at the exchange (before the data burst goes into the dslam) or check at your house with a corded device like the one you own that works, you will probably be charged for the visit, this could be tricky to sort because if its the broadband causing a pstn problem how would you get o2 to do anything about it ?, OR wouldnt persue it for you neither would BT retail, and O2 would probably state your broadband is working fine...0 -
