Firstly, many apologies if this is in the wrong place
Secondly, apologies if I sound completely dense, we have tried everything to our abilities
We have a JVC 28" screen television which is about 8 or 9 years old. When we are watching certain programmes e.g. films or 'older' tv series it is getting to the point where the whole screen is pretty much black - I've compared what we are watching with online viewing and there is a definite difference - dark room, someone with blonde hair on the computer, on our television it looks like they have black hair and we can hardly see anything.
We have spent many hours playing with the contrast/colours etc. We have also played around with the settings on our Sky box but there has been no difference.
We are now saving for a new television but I'm slightly concerned that we have missed something - buy new television but then find we still have the same problem.
Therefore, could we possibly have missed something?? (before we potentially spend unnecessary money)

is it the same if you use an aerial, rather than sky? Scart lead in properly?!!

Is it a CRT or LCD tv?
Some TV's can get darker with age. (a sort of Burnout of the phosphor or LED cells )
Can you plug your PC into the TV? I was thinking if you could play a tests pattern on the TV generated from the PC you would know if it's a TV or Connection/aerial problem...
But to me it sounds like a TV problem. So a newer TV will be as bright at your PC's screen...Laters
