Cycle to work and misadvertised bike

I joined the cycle to work scheme and ordered a Carrera TDF bike from Halfords website in a size 58cm. It was down to £300 from £450. The customer service was abysmal and I took the bike home, after handing my voucher over, without any help setting it up. When I got home I found out it was a 54 cm and way to small I returned it and was told they don't do a 58cm. The next closest model is a Boardman race comp for £650. Clearly the bike was mis advertised and misold. But I can't put money to the C2W voucher. What options do I have any advice? BTW they still have the 58cm advertised!!

Phone the cycle to work number and ask then to deliver a large to store for you? Last years virtuoso is about that provlfe now they could maybe find youbone of those in the right size instead
  • They say only bikes they have are Boardmans.

I'm almost certain that isn't the case as I was in a store a few days ago and they still had left over stock of large tdfs and virtuosos. Can you maybe get your company to lean on them a bit? At the end of the day you ordered a large bike and got a medium, you should be able to reject
  • They now have the cheek to "label" a 54cm as a large!!

Ah - so it was theoretically the correct bike that you ordered and received. To be honest I'm not sure you have much comeback in that case, they will probably just state that you should have checked the size instore / specs online.

You could always sell the bike and buy something second hand but bigger?
  • How can I not have a case when I ordered a 58cm and got a 54cm?!? Have you read any of the topic??

And you were happy to accept a 54cm bike from the store were you not?

Next time ride it before leaving , if it is not fit to be ridden, it is not a bike

Keep your knickers on, I'm trying to help.

I have read your post, you have made some confilcting statements, your first post reads as if you have ordered a large bike then had a medium delivered, then a couple of posts up it reads as though you ordered a large bike and had a large delivered, though this isn't the size that you expect a large bike to be. Can you clarify? Did you put "large" on your order form or specifically note a frame size?
