On my older system I run a similar configuration as you with a 250watt psu and a similar gfx card and never had a problem. Id try it out before getting a new psu. You only really need a beefy psu for gfx cards like the nvidia 7900gt (for example) I have two of those cards in sli config and have a 700watt psu. So you can imagine a 250wtt for a 6600gt would be fine best of luck0

simply for system stability and the fact that even a 6600gt can draw a fair amount of power at peak consumption I'd consider upgrading. Have a look at

for an idea of what psu you need.0 -

It looks like at least some of the 6600GT cards need a spare molex connection to the PSU, to boost the power available from the AGP port. E.g. in the review of this AGP 6600GT from MSI http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1714
So, check that you have a spare molex connector on your PSU that will reach the graphics card. You'll probably have a spare connector on the PSU cable connected to your hard drive.
Thanks for the reply,
Does that mean I need to buy an external power source for the 6600GT?
Wheres the best place to buy these if I need them?
Cheers
