B&Q Petrol Generator £32.98 (merged)

I'm normally sceptical of superstores' special offers, as more often than not the 'reduced' price is exactly what the item should have been sold at in the first place, but...

I've been after a light use generator set for a while now, and this one was reduced from £49.98 in a flyer stuffed inside the local free sheet. It's a generic Chinese model which can be bought from lots of different outlets at a wide range of prices and in different paint jobs. I can't find it on the B&Q website, but you can see it here branded as Yamalee for £62.99:

http://apple.clickandbuild.com/cnb/shop/lionsun?op=catalogue-products-null&prodCategoryID=1

and here as the Evopower GG950 for £88.13:

It's noisy and a 2-stroke, which for the uninitiated means you mix oil in with the petrol (or else it dies a horrible death), but with change from £33 it'll do for what I want.

Hope this is of some use!

  • Love the description of the generator on the second URL It says "It’s ultra-quiet" and then in the specs it lists "Noise level LwA dB(A) 91" Ooh whisper quiet. You could almost sleep next to it - not :-)

Good price for an emergency backup though.

£32.98 to generate my own petrol!? Fantastic! That should cut my fuel bills significantly.

If it's 800w, then that's a useable amount of power (better than the 600w's I've seen recently around that price)....

Still no good for boiling a kettle :-) (you'd need 2000-3000w for that!)

Could just about power lighting in a few rooms, cordless phones and the TV - sorted :-)

Would be OK with a travel kettle. Argos do a 550-650W one for £9.99.
