Barclays messing me around!!!!!!!

Having some trouble with Barclays, went through solicitors in November, they claimed in February, phoned barclays on 31/08/11, they said my claim was logged at the end of June. They also said they had not recieved letters, questionnaires etc, which my solicitors have stated that at least 5 letters and 2 questionnaires were sent to them before 20/04/11. My solicitors have said not to worry and sent my complaint to the Financial Ombudsman as they say my claim is dated before 20th April 2011, yet barclays say it isn't. Where do i stand etc... any help much appreciated. thanks. Just in case it helps, it was for a loan of £10,000 over 5 years at £295 per month. I paid the loan off in full after 18 months. How much ppi should i get back?

Hi there & welcome
So sorry to hear this and hope its resolved very soon.
Have the solicitor given you direct details of the one dealing with your case with the FOS?
I would contact them yourself if you can and you should be entitled to the details from your solicitor.
Maybe someone here will have other suggestions for you as well, wishing you luck, but do try also keeping in touch with the FOS yourself as well.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

I was told by the solicitor that the my complaint letter which i filled in, signed & sent back to the solicitor, had been sent to the financial ombudsman to deal with. Dont know where i stand, coz barclays say it was logged 23/06/11, yet the solicitor say it was before 20/04/11. Who should i be contacting? barclays, the solicitor or the financial ombudsman?0

The solicitor. You have agreed to pay an extortionate fee for his services so let him start earning it!0

the solicitors have letters with dates on that they posted to barclays to claim. Barclays say the only recieved a claim on 22/06/11, so who is at fault, Barclays or the solicitors. Dont really know where i stand. Will the letters the solicitors have sent(that are on file) be proof that i claimed before the 20th april 2011?0

Its probably not a solicitor but some lazy claims company.Dont really know where i stand. Will the letters the solicitors have sent(that are on file) be proof that i claimed before the 20th april 2011?
it may be an idea to stop using the word "claim". Claim is what you do when you suffer an illness. You make a claim on the policy. What you have done here is make a complaint. Not a claim. Your letters could inadvertently be sent to the claims team and not the complaints team.Dont know where i stand, coz barclays say it was logged 23/06/11, yet the solicitor say it was before 20/04/11. Who should i be contacting
When you made the complaint, the bank would have sent you an acknowledgement letter. What is the date of that letter?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). the only letter i recieved off the bank was one saying i had to fill in a fos consumer questionnaire, which was at the beginning of june. i already filled in the same questionnaire through the solicitors, so they said dont fill it in we will send it through. Wot confuses me is that at around the middle of june, i recieved a letter from barclays saying that they would look to quickly resolve my complaint as it went through before 20th april. It said i would hear something before the end of August.0

That would indicate June as the date.i already filled in the same questionnaire through the solicitors, so they said dont fill it in we will send it through.
it is very unusual for solicitors to deal with complaints. Are you sure it is a solicitor? Did they actually send the questionairre through? If they did and it was mislaid, did they send a copy of it to Barclays (which is what you would expect)? Or are Barclays just sitting there waiting for you?Wot confuses me is that at around the middle of june, i recieved a letter from barclays saying that they would look to quickly resolve my complaint as it went through before 20th april.
May have been someone picking the wrong letter. Or maybe they did get it in April. The "solicitor" would be able to confirm.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). the solicitors have said that my complaint has been sent to FOS because as far as they are concerned it is a pre 20/04/11 complaint. They say they sent 5 letters & 2 questionnaires to barclays all before 20/04/11. Yet barclays say they only recieved 1 letter in June.0
