windows 7 wont work HP printer

Can anyone help please...I've connected my HP c4480 to my laptop and downloaded the installation software but win 7 says its not connected.
Laptop is on win7 64bit and printer is a photosmart C4480.
I downloaded the hp installation wizard which checked the installation and reported drivers ok.no problems and did a test page and a scan.
The laptop is using office 2010.
Any ideas why it wont connect please ;);)

    I didn't install any drivers myself for my 4680 HP printer on my netbook. I think win 7 found a driver itself when I connected it. (HP Photosmart C4600 series)

    Have you checked what your default printer is ??? (devices and printers - has a green tick beside it)
  • I just ran all the hp test downloads to check it out and no probs...it should work...:rotfl: but its still giving "word cannot print no printer connected".
    The 4480 is set as default and I've gone through all the hardware in device manager ..its all ok with no driver problems.:eek:
    Might have to shout soon :D...or dig out a cold beer.
    I wonder if this is anything t0 do with this being the free word starter 2010? and not the full paid for version :cool:
  • What happens when you try to send a test print?

    Start > Devices and Printers> double click the printer to open the page > Printer > properties > test print

    Does your printer actually show in there as well?
  • YEA...shows up and prints a test page...thanks for the poke:eek::rotfl:
  • what about anything else? or is it just Word where you're not getting a printer?
  • Hi..had to sleep last night but I just ran off this web page with no trouble :j so it must be something to do with the freebie version of 2010 that they are trying to push.
    I've got my paid for disc of office 2007 in my hand ready to install.:D

    Not much help but here is how a fellow HP printer owner dealt with it:
