Hi,
What browser do folks use when they don't want their history stored? For example, I am often buying presents for my significant other and wouldn't want her to find out, or it might spoil the surprise!
I hear that google chrome is good, but since it's american does that mean it will also be spying on me and sending my information back to google?

chrome has an "incognito" setting here's what it says when you open a window with it:
You've gone incognito. Pages that you view in this window won't appear in your browser history or search history, and they won't leave other traces, like cookies, on your computer after you close the incognito window. - Websites that collect or share information about you
- Internet service providers or employers that track the pages that you visit
- Malicious software that tracks your keystrokes in exchange for free smileys
- Surveillance by secret agents
- People standing behind you
Because Google Chrome does not control how extensions handle your personal data, all extensions have been disabled for incognito windows. You can re-enable them individually in the

firefox has a simlar thing that you can set permanently rather than a one at a time basis
you could also install ccleaner to tidy up after use0 -
All the major browsers (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox) have a private browsing function, and all of them work just as well as eachother (which is to say - good enough for what you'll want it for). In reality they still leave traces behind but you'd have to be searching for it.
So, just choose whichever one of those browsers is best suited for your general use.0 -
