Laptop Tesco my rights pls help

I bought my HP laptop in June the mouse has been hanging almost all that time I know very little so didn't realise was a problem 2 wks ago it wouldn't turn on resorted to removing battery. Fan not working and still not starting up. Contacted Tesco who insist they have right to repair it - I have to contact HP they take it away. Can I get refund/replacement? I have really lost faith in this machine as Tesco insist it doesn't matter how many times it breaks down during warranty they can repair once it our of warranty they have no responsibility. Have read up on consumer rights but not sure about this. Thank to anyone who can help

They do have the right to repair it. If the same problem persists after about two or three repairs it can be rejected as not fit for purpose and a refund sought, whether they agree to that or not though is anyones guess.
You can insist on Tesco doing the return for you as your contract is with them, but is is often much quicker just doing it yourself, the turn around can be as quick as 7 days from HP or 4 weeks from Tesco.

Thank you for reply not what I wanted to hear as think less than 3 months use - have been on holiday 1 of those when it wasn't used - is not good was hoping I could reject it now but obviously not. Seems very poor quality I will stear clear of HP & Tesco unfair!!
