Cyprus probate?

Anyone have any experience regarding probate in Cyprus? I have been granted probate in the UK for my Cypriot born mum. On presenting to her Cyprus bank the grant for the release of money held in her account they have requested a Cyprus grant. I now have to apply to have the UK grant resealed by Cyprus courts (I am sole executor of the will). I emailed four firms of Cypriot solicitors (obtained from the Embassy) and they came back with minimum fees of 5% of the estate plus VAT and costs, this would result in an enormous legal bill, can I apply for the grant myself or has anyone had any experience dealing with Cyprus probate from England please? I dealt with the UK probate application myself and without using a solicitor. Doesn't seem to be much information on the web of how to apply. Thanks.

Cypriot law states that a solicitor must be used to administer a will and gain probate; there is also a minimum fee of 5% that they must charge.

The British High Commission in Nicosia hold a list of lawyers who are able to give advice, see here.
