Consumer Rights Issues, Please help
I dont know where else to turn, Ive been reading Martins tips for years now and now that there is a lot of expertise and knowledge on here.
Basically heres my story.
I purchased a car in the summer of last year with the intention of converting it to run on LPG.
I did a bit of research and opted for a company whom I thought I could trust, Im not going to name them but they arent a back street garage but are a BIG company and certainly seemed very profesional.
So August last year I had the car converted, however it was by no means straight forward. At first it took them weeks before I got the car back.
The was only the begining though, even though I had paid in full the car never ran as it should or anything close to how it runs on petrol.
The car went back I think about 10 times in total for them to fix. I lost count I only wish I had kept a log of all the issues and times they supposedly fixed it.
They werent the nearest company to me in fact I had to travel about 40 miles including the M6 so often the journey took over an hour, with waiting times and traffic I often spent half a day or more driving the car back and forward.
Finally my patience wore thin, I told them to come and collect the car and only return it when it was 100% fixed and ready to drive. They eventually did this and I thought I was in the clear, it was about 4 months after the iniatial install but at least it was now working.
So that was the start of this year.
Last week it stopped working again, today I called up the company again, they said I should drop the car off for them to look at. Well obviously I dont want the hassle of taking the car back again, and am now really sick of the whole thing and really wish I hadnt got the install done in the first place.
There are so many more details I could include but I tried to keep it shortish.
My question then is this, what can I do? I feel like telling them to remove the whole system and refund my money but Im not sure what rights I have if they refuse.
If I was to take it further what chance would I have in a court room baring in mind I dont have written records and they could dispute the whole thing.
I have spent thousands on this and untold hours in phone calls and driving back and forth and I really need to get it resolved.
Any advice is appreciated.

Speak to another LPG installer and ask how much it'll cost for them to do an independent report on your system. If you think the price is reasonable, pay it and let them see what they think of the install and what the problem is; you'll at least have something to go back to the installer with - or if it's nothing to big and expensive you might prefer to just pay to have it fixed by the new garage.0

Is it a top secret car? A one off special your not allowed to tell us about?
Do you know what brand and type of kit has been fitted?
Possible the filters need cleaning if they are the original one fitted 12months ago.
Stopped working? Wont run on LPG at all or other?
They have offered to look at it so i think you will need to take them up on that and let them fix it?
Be careful getting the system inspected, You dont want to risk them saying the system has been tampered

they've been back '10 times', which is why I suggested an independent check as they've still not fixed the problem.0
