End month to Riva del Garda

Bear end of this month we are holidaying in Riva del Garda for 7 days.
We are mid-seventies. We're wondering whether we should pre-book trips to (as SWMBO wants:D) to Venice, Dolomites and Verona, or take a chance and book locally when there..

There is of course the problem of Italy's debt that is getting the markets rattled very much today to muddy the water.

What do folks think?

I doubt you are taking much of a chance by waiting. Trips at this time of the year are more likely to be cancelled for lack of numbers than being full. I would only do the Dolomites trip in good weather.

how much to book via your tour people
its a long way to venice
its nice up in the dollies
its a fair way to verona takes a good 2 hours on the service bus
    all nice places mind
then do a google and see if its cheaper that way
to be honest at the time of year you are going its right at the end of the season so you might have to go with your tour company

I was there last year for my birthday (November) & had a fantastic time! It was a coach trip, & Venice & Verona were included. I'd wait until I got there to book. Enjoy!

I did quite some googles, but find it difficult to find anything about local coach trip organisers. Does anyone know the names of the principal firms over there? I could then search on their sites. Exact details not to hand but from vague memory all three come to ~£300 for the both of us.

    go to trip advisor
i cant find any local tours anywhere for you
remember its a long day to venice so unless you havent been before you might want to give it a miss wife was on crutches at the time and it was still very very busy in september
i assume you are doing a coach trip
its really nice at garda so if you can book the trips when you get there i would do that with hindsight as if its nice you might just want to sit down the front let the world go by and possibly just go on a slow ferry down the water a bit

Even so you will see far more on a sunny day than when the mountains are hidden in clouds.
  • We were in garda over the summer and there were lots of locally organised trips or public buses to venice, verona etc. all way cheaper than the tour operator. Would recommend you wait, you could always book with the tour operator when you get there and we rarely saw a full tour operator coach!

I wouldn't worry too much about the Euro situation, if that collapses we'll have a lot more to worry about than an excursion!
