Credit card fraud - however I did the transaction - please help

The difference here being in my situation that this website is setup solely as a money making exercise to replicate a genuine website, but not to deliver the goods.
How do you know that you won't receive the goods ? I've dealt with hundreds of cases where customers have received fake GHD's, Uggs, Ping Golf Clubs etc etc. If you do get them, contact M & S again to let them know, they should still be able to dispute this for you.0 -

Well, I have contacted them and they cannot supply an order number, I also have had a 3rd party contact me via email and phone (chinese eprson) asking for a photocopy of my credit card statement, my credit card details and my drivers licence.
does this sound to you like they will likely honour the purchase....it certainly doesnt in my book.0 -

Bizarrely, this could be some kind of anti-fraud measure rather than fraud. The 3rd party could be some kind of agent with the CC facility who might actually be attempting to confirm that the card details are genuine - ie given by the cardholder and not stolen. I still wouldn't send them though!
When I first used CCs for cardholder-not-present transactions here (in Taiwan..OK not China, well it is, er.. that's another forum!) it was common to ask for stuff like this. It even happened after I purchased tickets on an airline website. Call comes back - pls fax a copy of both sides of your credit card, your statement and ID card so we can confirm your purchase. All legit and about the merchant trying to make double sure that it really was the cardholder making the purchase. This practice has pretty much died out here.
If this was some time "after the event" - perhaps it's been prompted by a query from your bank?0 -

If this company (or the payment processing company) are contacting you by email it sounds as though they are trying to answer your queries regarding your order. As you received confirmation of your order, i do feel that you will receive your goods. M & S will only be able to dispute non receipt of goods after 30 days as the retailer is allowed this timeframe to deliver to you.
Have you been back on the website to check their T & C's ? As i mentioned previously, sometimes, hidden in the small print is a disclaimer, advising any potential purchasers of what they're buying.
I'm not saying you won't get your money back, just letting you know from my own experience what may happen.0 -
Why don't you tell us the URL of the bogus site? Don't see any harm in thatOptimists see a glass half full

There are two options:
1) it's a fraud and they want more information to commit further fraud
2) it's a legitimate attempt to obtain identification to back up an online transaction, without which the payment would not be authorised.
In either case, you should NOT give them the details. At worst, you've prevented a possible identity fraud. At best, you've stopped the transaction completely and won't have to pay it.We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
