Rug Doctor for cleaning carpets

Hello

We`re considering hiring a Rug Doctor to clean our living room carpet. Does anyone have any experience good or bad of using one? Thanks ;)

Go for it, would highly recommend. Once you have done the living room you will be so impressed at the results that you will work your
way all through the house!! I tend to hire one once a year and am always amazed at just how clean the carpets look.
  • on our white carpets i found it useless. luckily i took before and after photos and the manager of the b&q store agreed and refunded all the money. bought a vax for £129 which made a huge difference, plus in 2 and a bit rentals time its paid for itself

Yeah, it's not AMAZING, but it certainly lifts up dirt and marks on beige carpets, we used it when we left our last rental place, and once in our new flat!

Definitely try it out, we got ours from Tesco but I think they do it in sainsburys too!
  • i am pretty sure we paid about £49 for the rug doctor and a bottle of cleaner. financially this doesnt make sense when you can buy a really good vax for just over £100. much cheaper solutions, and flexibility to use whenever wanted etc

A bit of hit and miss with me - but that, i believe was down to how well the shop maintains its rug doctor's. Found the ones out of Morrisons are not well mentained but the one's in homebase were!

Got ours from Morrisons and very impressed with the results. Used several different times and always pleased. £24 for two days as we had carpet shampoo.

We used a rug doctor a while ago - it was okay but not great - was also incredibly noisy! We've since been told (I don't know how correctly) that they can actually damage the carpet as the brushes are pretty brutal.
We recently hired a carpet cleaner from a hire shop (it was more like a vacuum, not with the rotating brushes & much quieter!) - and were really pleased with the results. I think it was around £35 for a full weekend (collecting friday/returning Monday), complete with upholstery tool and shampoo. We did the whole (3 bed semi) house and a very grubby settee. Would certainly use it again.
