USB to Jack Plug connector suggestions needed

My laptop has a front jack plug socket but I don't like using it as I am scared it will press against me and break. So I wondered if there were any connectors to allow me to use my USB socket on the side.

I have Googled but am not good at it....

Assuming the front jack is a 3.5mm audio connector the only way you'd be able to use a USB connector for the same function would be to buy an external USB sound card which would be a pretty messy sort of solution.

Or use a USB headset like what they use in call centers.

Its as much of a mystery to me as you. Must be a gremlin somewhere as I am a a long term user with other user names (mystery) with many thousands of other posts.
