Renault Twingo 2010 Fault - Where do i stand

Hi I have owned my Renault Twingo 2010 from new bought from a main dealer and 3 times since ive bought it, its broken down. WHere you press the fob and car doesnt open, key into the ignition and nothing. Everytime ive called the AA out and they've managed to get me on my way. The 3rd time was the last straw its been into the Renault garage and aparantely they are aware of the problem and are awaiting a software update, but there is no date when this is due out. My car is on a selections plan i think, i just like to hear what my legal options are. any help at all is very much appricaited.

Thx

Not sure what you're looking for? You need to give them the opportunity to fix the problem, you don't mention how long a period the issue has been happening over or how long the dealer has been aware of it for?

If it's happened since day 1 and they've always been aware of the issue then I'd be pushing for another car - if you've only told them about the problem a week ago and they have a potential solution then I think the best you can hope for is a courtesy car whilst you wait for a resolution for yours.
  • It happened at around6 months and i lodged a complaint to Renault UK about 10 days ago. Basically i was offered £500 towards a new car, but my Renault dealer wont take the car back until they are told what date the software will be out????

If the complaint was logged 10 days ago I don't think that's really sufficient time to rectify the fault, frustrating though it might be. Ignore the offer of £500 for a new car - if it came to rejecting the car they would have to put you in a position to acquire an equivalent model that works.
  • Update

I've been advised to ring the finance company and report the issue to them who have recommended that i reject the car. WHich i have done so and told Renault that im rejecting and told them its not fit for purpose. So im waiting for Renault to contact me in relation to this now.

Also i initially paid around £1600 deposit, whats the likelyhood of getting any of that back? or what will happen now???

    thanks guys
  • Hi can you contact me and let me know what has happened. I am going through he same and I dont know whether the accept car back tomorrow as they said theres a fault but nothing they can do at this time.

    Thanks Rachael
  • frustrating as it may seem, if renault are working to a fix, then when a fix is saught call back affected vehicles i dont see how rejecting the car this far down the line is applicable here. youve had it 2 years. renault will ignore that rejection as youve owned the vehicle for so long.

tell them per every time your vehicle is breaking down and costing you recovery you want the costs back due to this fault and perhaps a free comprehensive service belts tentioners and water pump and valet for the trouble caused.
