This is so petty, but I hate it so I have to rant.

and another rant. I work on customer services in a large supermarket chain. Our compliance manager has stopped us from following the policy, and is making his own up as he goes. Our store is no longer allowed to follow the DTD policy, for ANYONE, even when the label clearly states a price or an offer, the managers are refusing to follow the policy and instead only offer the customer a refund.
What can we do? All the staff in my department are so sooooo sick of it, it's embarrassing for both us and the customer. And our store manager/personnel/compliance all know about it, and are in agreement that we're not allowed to follow the policy. WTFWTF.
Your manager will only get away with this for so long. If a follower of the DTD thread on the Grabbit board visits your store they'll camp out at Customer Services until they get their DTD. I've never failed to get it yet.0 -
Ive worked in retail and ive used the trays before but never thought of the fact that I had'nt used 1 since school.0

At work our new personnel manager insists we use trays when we eat in the canteen.
I'm 24. The last time I used a tray was when I was in primary school !!!!!!.
It's so ridiculous, and I don't even get paid for my break so I'm like...why the hell should I have to.
I appreciate this was a rant, but it may not have occurred to you that it's not about you nor your colleagues.
It's probably about the people running the canteen. It makes their jobs so much easier to clean trays in a quick, systematic manner, than run around cleaning tables sporadically, as and when people leave them.
Look at it this way: if customers in your store had to replace items exactly where they found them, it would make your life easier and less busy. Obviously you can't tell customers to do that, but I'd bet my life that the trays thing isn't about treating you like a child, but about trying to help the canteen staff who are as busy as you are.
Always try looking at things from a different perspective before assuming the worst.
KiKi' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -
Judging by the DTD I take it you work for Tesco. I am a former employee, I was driven out via the "right time, right hours" scheme. I doidn't take further action as I was only working part time, 8 hours a week. If you wish to report this you can anonymously via the staff "protector" line. The number should be on staff notice board. Alternatively, email listenandfix@tescocomments.com
please don't use your real details when reporting this. Create a fake email.0 -
It's just annoying that the canteen doesn't actually serve food when I'm there. It's bought stuff from the shop floor, such as a sandwich, or even a packet of crisps. I can understand if I'm having a plate of chips and require something to carry things over, but I don't. And I'll rant if I want. I'm not quitting my job for it, and it's stupid to even suggest that tbh.
And thank you thunderb0lt, those of us who work at the CSD are just so fed up of it all tbhWe've brought this up with senior management but they just don't care because they want to make sure they're "green" for overcharges, fair enough, but get more people on price integrity to change the labels correctly, not lie to customers *grumble* lol

I would take out a "uman rights" case. Must be something in there about being forced to use a tray against your will.0

And it's a bloody stupid thing to be ranting over too. Isn't there more important things to do with your life than rant about having to use a tray?
Amd nobody said quit - we said get another job if all you can do is find fault with the place. Or apply for a management job and do a better job of it.0 -
Kat - If I were you I would be a little more careful about what I post on here. As others have pointed out already you DO seem to rant and rave quite a lot about your job and the management and other staff at the store in which you work.
*If* someone from Tesco were to read some of the things you write you could find yourself in bother at work.....with a little work head office could track you down from the info you have posted on here, you may well find that you then wouldnt have a job to rant about!
You have to remember that in the current climate there will be million people eagerly waiting to step into your job and be very grateful to do so!The loopy one has gone :j0 -

Agree.
Name the store that will get the DTD MSEers round to sort out the trouts.0 -
