Faulty TV after 2 years - proportional refund?

Options
Hello,

I got a tv 2 years ago from Play.com, which has gone faulty. I had the unit checked by an engineer, to show Play.com that they were responsible under Sale of Goods act.

They have agreed, however they say that no comparable model is available, and are going to issue a partial refund, considering "2 years of depreciation", so I would get £90 compared to £250 new.

Should I accept this or should they be doing better?

What size TV is it? Was it a cheap model, or a decent branded one?

£90 refund would indicate they give it a lifespan of roughly three years. If it's a cheapo model, then that's pretty good. If something more expensive for its size, then maybe not so.

Personally, I'd take it though. Also, did you get a refund for any cost of the engineer?
    Squirrel!
If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
