What help (benefits) for 22year old-pregnanta

Need a bit a help and advice for 22 year old daughter please.
Short version, her and partner (age 19) living with us, both employed full time, 3 weeks ago went to his parents,(live 60 miles away)we had text saying both resigned, not coming back home  ! no reasons etc.
She went to benefits office 2 weeks ago to "sign on ".
Last Sat phoned to say she`s pregnant
They live with his mum ( private rent house, she is on incapacity etc does not work)
Bit of open question then ,
Would it be best for her to go to CAB ? and ask what she could get ?
Go to benefits office and do same ?
Any other advice ?
Cheers.

As they resigned they won't be entitled to JSA for 6 months.

It's unlikely they will receive anything going on what you are saying, perhaps they should have researched this before giving up their jobs.

  • The parent had better be careful too to notify change of circumstance that they live with her etc...council tax, housing benefit etc....

Why did they both resign? They will be sanctioned for doing this so will find themselves without anything for a while.
She wont be entitled to MA either as wont of worked enough.

Probably because they believe that having a baby entitles them to state handouts.

When the baby is born they will get their rent paid, council tax paid, child benefit and child tax credits.

They might even be better off not working, I know we are a mere £30 a week better off than if we were on benefits and we BOTH work
    OPs so far £42,139

They will be sanction but should apply for hardship payments - 60% of JSA only (assuming she is for contribution based in her own right), if not they need to apply as a couple. They both need to demonstrate that they are actively job hunting as well.

Parent needs to notify her council and benefits re two non-dependent adults on low income re CTB and LHA. May affect other benefits.

    Thanks for replies so far.
Karenx- have not got a clue ! they went away for a weekend and did not come back, just a text ! we are "lost " to as why !

She has been to Job centre and unbelieveably the "advisor" filled out all of her details and advised her to say she argued with us and had to move out ! so she could get around any sanction,
Trying to work out if she would get materninty ? has worked for last 2 years fulltime (39 hours week)
Any other comments (good or bad ) appreciated.
