PPI claim advice

Hello, I am currently in the process of trying to get my PPI back from Yorkshire Bank for what I believe is missold ppi.
after the 8 weeks the bank have to reply I received a letter asking for an extension of another four weeks which I thought I might as well allow. After a week I received another letter asking for paperwork for three other loans that they were investigating. I phoned to say i didnt have the paperwork and was told that they were investigating a further 2 loans which they did have paperwork for. I was asked to write to them to inform them that I didnt have paperwork which I did. Therefore they are investigating three loans. I realised at the weekend that the extension deadline had been reached and so I phoned bank to enquire where we were up to only to be told that the documentation had only been forwarded that day for investigation (13 weeks after their letter of receipt of claim request). They also stated that they had written to me on 30th Aug but when I asked how long they had requested this time the woman on phone said there was no deadline on the letter and would not be tied down to give me one.
I have had enough and have phoned the ombudsman. I just wondered if you thought that this was the best thing to do considering the above.
Hope you can put my mind at rest that I have done the right thing.

You may as well. However, at this point, there is no longer a timescale and they can explain away the delays and should be able to persuade the adjudicator as to why the delay was acceptable (non computerised filing held in a central warehouse or branch for example)I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

That is not strictly correct. Under FSA rule DISP 1.6.2R(2)(a) they are required to give an indication as to when they expect to be able to give a response.
However, if they indicate to FOS that they have concerns about two other sales you did not mention and wish to investigate them it is unlikely that FOS will not allow them extra time. In the circumstances, I would be inclined to give them a further eight weeks to investigate the two cases they have identified themselves.0
