Wrong carpet fitted - How long do I have to report it?

Options
Hi folks,

Looking for some consumer advice on carpets please? I am slowly renovating my house and intending to carpet the whole upper floor in the same carpet.
In October last year I got 2 rooms done, and now nearly a year later have just had a 3rd room carpeted.
However despite ordering the same carpet from the same company, the new one is actually different. I've investigated further, and the company actually fitted the wrong style 11 months ago (I have reciept evidence to reflect this). Its the same colour but a different weave, and so was not obvious at the time.
Do I have the right to ask the company to correct the origional mistake and replace the carpets I bought 11 months ago? Or is 11 months too long to report their mistake? I'm expecting the company will offer to replace the carpet just fitted as its cheaper to recitfy (smaller and only 1 room needs changed). However I really would prefer the carpet I origionally chose and ordered.

Thanks for any advice you can give on this!

cheers
Barbara

Although it was an error, after this length of time you'll be deemed to have accepted the goods (or so I believe). Best to contact them, point out the error and ask them how they can help to resolve the issue. Worst case is that they'll say "tough". If they offer to replace the new carpet with the "wrong" carpet then take it, although I'm not sure they have any obligation to do so.

I'd ring them and ask for a manager to come to your home to look at the problem and tell them what you would like, ie the correct carpet, and hear what they have to say about the matter, bearing in mind you want the rest of the house doing some time in the future.

And if they want the work, then it is in their interest to sort something out with you.

I can't imagine them offering a replacement after all this time.

If anything they may offer a significant discount on the replacement + fittings.

In terms of rights, I don't think you would have any since as Bod said, you would be deemed to have accepted the goods.

That's why I said they may offer to replace the new carpet with the "wrong" carpet so it matches the previous carpets.
