Writing a will (solicitor) what should I think about?

We're making joint wills on Wednesday with a local firm of solicitors, they will do them FOC if we make a £95 donation to the local hospice so thought why not.
We're married, no children, and have a house together.
Having never written a will before I'm wondering what sort of questions I'll be asked so that it can be compiled. Obviously if I die I'd like everything to go to my husband but is there anything else I should be thinking about? What were you asked when writing a will?
Thanks :j

The most obvious question is what happens if you both die at the same time.

Do you want a provision in there for any children that may turn up or is this unlikely.

Thanks.. for the first question I don't really know, as other than my Mum (who will probably die before me..) I'd struggle to decide who it would go to!

Second question, currently we have no plans for children and don't really want them, but you never know what may happen in the future!!!

Is the house joint tenancy, in which case it becomes the sole property of the survivor on the first death anyway, and is excluded from the estate.

If is tenants in common, you can leave your portion to who you wish. Do you want the survivor to have a life interest and leave it to someone on your side eventually? If so, what happens if OH remarries, or wants to move or.....

What other joint assets do you have, as these become the sole property of the survivor on the first death.

List and sole assets and think what you want to do with these.

Who do you want to execute the estate? Do not choose the solcitors, choose younger people than yourselves, preferably two. The Probate office offer a low cost secure storage facility for £15 single payment. Easier than spending 8 months extracting the will from the old solicitors who wanted to execute the estate, as we had to do.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
