Indeed - in fact they did dream up a very similar policy about 10 years ago - Gordon Brown's stupid plan to tax child benefit for HRT payers even if their spouse got the CHB. They dropped it when they realised it was unworkable. This one has the same problems.
I'm just wondering if all this is some political stunt to get people on (relatively) higher incomes whinging about benefits, a deliberately unfair policy which will cause controversy and headlines and keep it in the news that those on higher incomes are being treated unfairly.
To counteract those on lower incomes whinging about housing benefit not paying silly rents in some areas and those who reckon a minor disability means they should be able to sit on their !!!! all day claiming benefits rather than seek work.0 -
