Replacement Laptop Batteries

Any top tips for sourcing reliable but cheap laptop batteries?

Dell want £105.59 or £121.19. :eek:

I've found another on-line retailer that want £50.39 or £65.99.

Obviously the second one seems a lot more reasonable, but will I be getting a cheap battery that doesn't work as well?

Thanks everyone!

    Try this seller on ebay;

    I got my HP battery for my laptop from him, cost me £31 as apposed to £95 from HP.

    Works just as good as the original in terms of holding charge and standby etc

  • A few years ago I needed a replacment laptop battery and at the time it was about £98 for a Toshiba one.
    I ordered one from an ebay seller for £35 and I was a bit worried when it arrived from China (It was badged as a Toshiba battery, but I very much doubt if that was the case).

    However, it worked fine, and was still working 18 months later when I got rid of the laptop.
    It might not have had the same capacity or build quality as an OEM item, but at 1/3 of the price I was more than happy.

    I know that there are some dodgy batteries available, but I'm just giving my experience.

    MAKE SURE THAT IT IS 100% COMPATIBLE. Dell batteries are smart batteries. They have a chip in them that the laptop reads. If it can't read it, it will tell you there is no battery installed and it will not charge the battery either. All you'll get is a red or an orange flashing battery light and the BIOS saying there is no battery.

    I use this guy. 100% compatible, fast delivery and you can collect if you are in the near of Nottingham.

    They virtually all are, including the genuine originals.

    Except, if batteries prove to be dangerous, ie prone to exploding or catching fire, dell will issue a recall notice for the affected models.

    Good luck trying to find an ebay seller, selling compatible batteries that would bother to care if your house burns down or not.
