working tax credits and work pension

Hi guys wondering if you can answer me a query i have

I currently pay in to my work pension which is deducted before tax comes off my wages

when tax credits asks for my total taxable earnings for the year do i need to include what i paid into a pension??

thing is i usually use my p60 and obviously this shows total taxable earned and doesn't include what i paid into my pension so will be less than my yearly figure

Thanks

I am in the same position as you - my pension contributions are deducted prior to my tax and national insurance being deducted.

The figure that you need to give to HMRC is the amount on your P60, i.e. your gross income minus your pension contributions.

    Hope this helps.
